E43 - Mike Acosta: Here for the Music
Monday Sep 12, 2022
Monday Sep 12, 2022
The over-arching story of this episode is how fan behavior molds the concert experience. There is a trigger warning because we talk about drugs and drug-induced fan behavior. However, we also talk about some amazing fans that left great lasting memories for us. We run a wide scope of memories from metal to country to artists like Neil Diamond and Lou Reed. So please join us on our memories of some of the wildest concerts that we've attended.
Be sure to continue to send me your questions and suggestions, especially your favorite artists! I love discovering new music and I really want to hear about your concert experiences!

E42 - Let There Be Rock with Mike Acosta
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Monday Sep 05, 2022
This week my (practically) lifetime friend, Mike and I got back together again to talk about the only thing that matters in the world: rock ‘n roll! And the craziest concerts that we’ve attended. We also talk about hearing loss, both of us having exposed our ears to loud noise and suffered the consequences.
It struck me during this talk, how many venues no longer exist from our early concert days. My personal choices in who I will listen to has also changed dramatically. What I mean to say is that my music listening has broadened and become more inclusive of and open to the seemingly infinite variety of music that there is in the world.
Music… is the universal language that connects us all. Here, we share the one referred to as rock.

E37 - Chris Sullivan: A Philosophical Exploration of Life
Monday Aug 01, 2022
Monday Aug 01, 2022
Chris Sullivan is a deep thinker, writer, photographer, humanitarian, a truth-seeker, a steward to the planet, and an absolute treasure. He’s a former business analyst with degrees in philosophy, history, and Education. And, he became a brand-new grandfather this year.
In this first of a two-part talk, we talk about the process of gaining awareness of our reactions to various stimuli, especially those that take us out of our comfort zone. It is about dealing with life’s challenges, integrating experiences, and finding meaning, strength and perseverance from hardships. In many ways, this talk is just about LIFE. It’s endless progression of troughs and peak, and the realization that nothing is final.
Life is an immersive ride that’s meant to be experienced fully in all of its variations. It is hard, but it somehow, manages to be wonderful at the same time or redeem itself, shortly thereafter. It’s a teacher and sometimes, even an angel… never more apparent than when its students talk about, share and explore our situations and find the common and relatable threads among it all. We are not alone in our experiences.
*Trigger warning: abuse, chemical dependence, depression, suicide

Monday Jul 11, 2022
Monday Jul 11, 2022
In this, Part II of my interview with the ever-fascinating, Brooke Applegate, we cover the things that make us humans thrive as a species and delve deep into museum facts and details such as Victorian death customs; with an anthropological perspective, of course. We talk about Dinosaurs (by the way, the dinosaur I couldn't remember is a Triceratops) and Giant Ground Sloths; Dire Wolves and Saber Tooth Tigers. For a minute, we travel to Washington DC. But, the overarching arc of this episode is about seeking and cultivating that "lost, yet completely accessible" child-like joy and curiosity within us all.
