Don Atwood is a sailor, photographer, adventurer and one of the smartest people that I know. He's also a lot of fun and longtime friend. In this episode, we talk about the epic sailing adventure that he embarked on in March of this year. Since leaving from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on March 19th, he and his sailing partner, Julie Dunne made landfall on Aprill 11 in Hiva Oa (French Polynesia). His last post is nearly two weeks ago, so I think that they are somewhere off grid, traveling through the South Pacific.
Listen to Don's preparation for this brazen adventure... everything from planning to provisions to getting his boat, First Light in seaworthy shape; to his expectations on the sea and once he makes landfall... and how this adventure has gone from a three month journey to the possibility of a 5 year world trek!

He has also successfully lived Off Grid on several acres in nearby Tehachapi where he keeps a small farm and a menagerie of animals that range from dogs and cats to goats, chickens and an occasional wild turkey. Luis Guerra is an award winning music composer, arranger and writer. You've heard his music in film, television, podcasts and numerous other projects. He is also an MS warrior.
Multiple Sclerosis is a neuro-degenerative disease that affects the nerves. It is chronic and there is currently no cure for the 2.3 million people world-wide who have this disabling disease. MS can be difficult to diagnose. In fact, statistics show that 42% of patients are originally misdiagnosed. Research continues to develop disease modifying therapies and drugs to treat the symptoms and slow progression.
In this second of a two-part talk, Luis talks about the wonderful projects that he's composed, arranged and written for and the amazing talent, especially those who are moving the needle on how we view one another in society.
